Lewey Lake Campground was one of those places that immediately makes you want to stay longer.
Located along both Lewey Lake and Indian Lake, the campground offers an impressive collection of waterfront campsites. I stayed on the Lewey Lake side and was surprised by how private the sites felt. The campsites were huge, heavily wooded, and so well spaced out that I could barely see neighboring campers.

One of the campground's biggest strengths is water access. Nearly every waterfront campsite provides direct access to the lake, making it ideal for kayaking and canoeing. Rentals are available if you don't bring your own equipment.
Fishing opportunities are plentiful. Between Lewey Lake, Indian Lake, and the connecting waterways, anglers have a tremendous amount of water to explore. While I didn't spend as much time fishing here as I would have liked, the combination of shoreline access and paddling opportunities makes it a strong choice for fishermen.

The campground itself is primitive, but it offers water stations and a dump station. For me, it struck a perfect balance between traditional camping and comfort.
Kona absolutely loved Lewey Lake. One of the unexpected highlights of our stay occurred at the beach area. Dogs typically aren't allowed on the beach, but because it was early in the season and nearly empty, staff allowed Kona to enjoy the water. She wasted no time taking advantage of the opportunity.

The weather during our stay was cool and windy, which turned out to be a blessing. The wind kept the black flies under control, making it one of the more comfortable camping experiences of the trip.
The only challenge visitors should be aware of is connectivity. Cell service is extremely limited throughout the area, and reservations must be made online. That can create some frustration if you're trying to book a site after arriving.
For paddlers, anglers, photographers, and anyone looking for a peaceful Adirondack lake experience, Lewey Lake Campground is an excellent choice.
